I am directed to refer to the Advocate General Punjab’s letter No.7238/AG.Pb, dated 07.04.2020 on the subject cited above.
It has been informed that during the course of hearing of Criminal Petition No.299 of 2020 titled Raja Muhammad Nadeem versus the State on 06.04.2020 and 07.04.2020, the Honourable Supreme Court has observed and directed as follows:
All OPDs (Outdoor patients wards) of all public and private hospitals should remain open for the treatment of all other diseases as well and all hospitals should, therefore, be functional not only for treating COVID-19 patients but also for the treatment of other ailments and diseases.
In compliance of the direction of the Honourable Supreme Court of Pakistan,
the Competent Authority has directed that the Punjab Healthcare Commission may ensure that OPDs of all the private hospitals should remain open for the treatment of other ailments and diseases in addition to the treatment of COVID-19 patients. However, all precautionary measures should be strictly adopted for the safety of patients and the healthcare service
providers, and to minimize chances of transmission of Covid-19.
I am therefore, directed to request you to ensure compliance of the order of
the Honourable Supreme Court and necessary directions may be conveyed to all the Private Hospitals in Punjab.
